My Sunroom in the Summer

It's no secret that my sun room is one of my favorite rooms in my house.  It's been shown in many posts on my blog and even on House of Turquoise (Thank you Erin)!  But it recently occurred to me, that the only photos I have posted of this bright and chipper room have been from the dreary winter months when no leaves were on our trees. So today, I have decided to share updated images of the room from this summer.  They're a little more warm and cheerful

Check back to my original post here for sources and more dialogue on how the room came together.

Also, I did finally purchase a Massimo Vitali and it's getting framed as we speak!!!  (See the one I purchased here).    I'll post photos of the walls as soon as i get it up and hanging!

Lastly, remember how I was excited to hang the Meg Braff wallpaper in here (see photo of it in the room here)?  I've changed my mind again.  I want to keep the tranquil blue walls and blue ceiling in the sun room.  I have another place for the Kelly Green Meg Braff wallpaper and I'm in negotiations with my husband, EG, to let me order the paper!

You're invited to tour the rest of my house at any time!

Check out the other items in my house that I've found on a budget here!

Heya I'm on pinterest too. Check me out here.

Maria Barros + The Pink Pagoda

These absolutely fabulous photos are circulating on the blogosphere and pinterest.  I first spotted them on The Pink Pagoda and then the House of Turquoise.  The room is by designer Maria Barros.  Maria  is an interior designer from Portugal.  She believes her design is a reflection of her "HAPPY" self.  She uses bold color and patterns (hey, a woman after my own heart).  Her work is simply wonderful.  I can't get enough.  I must say that upon seeing these photos I felt instant love for Maria Barros.  Just everything about her style exudes my taste.  I love the mostly white palette that is accentuated by strong bursts of color.  Also, her use of geometric patterns and prints is amazing.  Lastly, her pops of orange and vivid bursts of color is out of this world.  Literally to die for!
Here are more designs and feel free to check out Maria's own site here.   Check back tomorrow for another fascinating room by Maria (I just can't get enough)!
(Thank you to The Pink Pagoda for introducing Maria Barros to me.  Maria has even used The Pink Pagoda's brilliant artwork in her designs.  (See the orange elephant in the vivid pink matted frame above?  Yup, that's Pink Pagoda's.  Check out more of The Pink Pagoda's art for sale here).

(Thank you to DesignRulz for extra photos!)
PS--love what you see?  Here are more Maria Barros rooms over here

Here's to a 'campy' fourth

Beach house in Hampton's, Courtesy Australia Vogue Living

Next week, the family and I are going to a lake house in upstate New York for the Fourth.  So far up North, it's almost Canada.  I'm looking forward to a more laid back life for a week.  We've got a pontoon boat for fun rides on the lake and maybe some attempts at fishing.  We are equipped with smores' fixins and sunscreen.  It's going to be just like Moonrise Kingdom...

Moonrise Kingdom
We'll have spotty non-existent cell service and Internet connection during the week.  Don't worry, I've got ya'll queued up with fabulous posts for the week.  But you're going to have to come directly to the blog to read them (so you facebook readers that are used to me posting each day to the fb site...head on over directly to the blog here).

Here's wishing everyone a fantabulous fourth of July holiday.

Pssst....a secret--I'm going to be a Guest Blogger on House of Turquoise next week so keep your eyes peeled on HOT!

House of Turquoise features Vivid Hue Home

And now, the big reveal.  I put the teaser out yesterday that Vivid Hue Home had a big announcement for today.  When I told ya'll to "think blue", I was wildly amused that some readers guessed that I may be preggo with a boy.  Well, fat chance.  My mommy duties are already plentiful with Jack and Vivi.  But this is even bigger from a design perspective...Vivid Hue Home is featured on the House of Turquoise today!    Read here

I am over the moon.  I lust after the photos featured on House of Turquoise.  Erin is one kool kat and she knows a fantastic room design when she sees it.

I am truly honored to be featured on the blog!

Little Room, Big Inspiration

You may recall my daughter, Vivi's room from the house tour.  Currently, we've turned it into a makeshift playroom.  But I've started to scout inspiration photos for what I hope this room to become.  Vivi's a vivacious and feisty soon-to-be four year old.  I want her room to convey the same fun energy

Here are the rooms that make me smile and inspire me to get the remodel underway:

And here's Vivster herself (pictured here with her bro).  You can tell she's a colorful young lady with high expectations about her room decor.  (Ok, maybe that's just her mama).

Banana Leaf Beauty

Ever find a great pair of shoes and then construct an entire outfit around themI spotted these banana leaf pumps in April's Vanity Fair and immediately thought of the Beverly Hills Hotel.

I have long been a fan of Hinson's Banana Leaf Wallcover. It's fabulous on the wall, so why not on your feet?  Catch these wonderful banana leaf displays...

A variation of the Hinson wall covering, Cole and Son offer the tropical wallpaper as shown in this design by Amber Interiors.  ( BTW, Amber's blog kicks some serious booty so you should check it out.  And no, I don't even know the gal.  I just know great when I spot it).

Bethany Herwegh's house is scrumptious in the same Cole and Son covering {check out more of Bethany's rooms as reviewed on House of Turquoise}.

Feeling a little Golden Girls, yet?  You know I love their style! {proof here}

Maybe you're not feeling the banana leaf 'love' enough to adorn the Charlotte Olympia Lucite pumps, or venture out in head to toe leaf...

Then maybe, just maybe, you'll consider papering your bathroom with a branch or two.  I've got my eye on this for my bathroom.   Oh yes.  Vivid Hue Home loves color and pattern, remember?
